Whatever you buy, look at the phone on Amazon first. I got a Sony Ericsson 710a (probably more expensive than what you’re looking for) for about $99 after rebates. Be careful, as the rebates may lock you into plans you don’t want to be locked into.

You cannot beat Verizon service in the NY area. I got a Samsung SCH-A670 picture-phone for $50 with a two-year contract. It’s a bit small if you have large hands, but it’s the best of the dozen or so I’ve had so far.

I love my LG VX6100 phone. I take pictures with it all the time, and its widdle opsys is way cute.

Hopefully this blog allows HTML and I've not just posted a very messy bit of text (there was no preview button). The Sony Ericsson S700a looks pretty nice, 1Mp camera, big screen, bluetooth, though it is a little chunky. $99 after rebates on Cingular. Though the camera quality isn't as good as the S700a (1Mp vs. VGA), the Motorola Razr V3 is wonderfully thin and light and still has bluetooth. Free after rebates on Cingular and T-Mobile (I think). The Nokia 6230 is small, looks pretty nice, has a camera (VGA) and bluetooth, although the reviewers on Amazon don't seem so in love with it. If I'm reading it right, Cingular will give you $50 after rebates to get one. I should probably mention, I do *not* work for Cingular and have no idea what they're like in terms of customer service or network quality. I just happen to find the selection of phones from the other US networks kind of pathetic compared to what's on offer in the UK. Personally, I'd probably go for the S710a, though depending on your pocket/bag situation, the Nokia/Razr might be better.
