I'm always up for doing something fun on a weekend or otherwise...give me a buzz.

Depending on where your meeting is, you might be able to take the bus or the train. Of course, the easiest thing would be to rent a car and charge it to your office.

Have fun at the Met...I'm envious. :)

There's a simple solution to your weekend problem. If Matt is too busy to do things with you, go out and do things by yourself! There's no shame to it, and even long-married couples can't always manage to arrange their schedules and interests to coincide. It works for me-- if I could travel and do things only when someone was available to do it with, I'd never get to go anywhere. Doing things alone might not be as much fun as doing them with "that special someone," but it's usually more fun than staying home alone (especially when you know "that special someone" will be there waiting for you when you get home from your adventure!).

What if you try doing a little more during the week? I recommend a Thursday evening at the New Museum's temporary location at 11th Ave and 22nd Street in Chelsea: http://www.newmuseum.org/info_info.php . They stay open until 8 on Thursdays. It was bigger than I expected from a place in that area and the current exhibition, on Andrea Zittel, is really interesting. I don't know if you want something that involves a lot of people, though, cause when I went with my boyfriend last week it was pretty quiet. There's also a couple other museums in the city that stay open later during the week.

You're going to see one of the tickets of the season. La Gheorgiu is one of the few performers out there worthy of the title "diva," and her Met Violetta has been anticipated ever since she and her husband backed out of the premiere of this particular production some years ago citing "artistic differences." (Given the critics' reaction to the Zeffirelli redux, she may, honestly, have been on to something.) Now that the talking heads have had their say about the godawful production (dancing Holsteins, anyone?), they can give their full attention to one of the few sopranos on the scene with a reputation in this role.
