This is why civil movements in America take so long to enact change. They are often sidelined by their own infighting, egos, and carnal/fun-fun-more-fun-dammit! desires. This is all about substantive values, or their absence.

What I find really sad about it is that Scheich seems almost to have some kind of internalized homophobia going on, indicated by his blithe dismissal of Charney’s allegations. Inferring Scheich’s age from the online clues, I’d hazard to guess he may be one of a certain kind of older gay man who had to suffer through a less enlightened time and is full of self-loathing. Or maybe not.

Either way, he still sounds like an asshole.
