Every time I've attempted to watch the Manhattan fireworks (well, both times) I've been thwarted by rain. The first time, 2001, I got stranded in a drenching rain on Roosevelt Island. This time, my friend David and I were going to watch them from the roof of his condo in Jersey City. Had just about as much luck as you did. Glad to hear you liked WALL*E. I'll probably Netflix it when it comes out because Batman and the X-Files will likely consume my cinematic budget this month. We were torn between WALL*E and Get Smart on Sunday, and I went with the latter because Steve Carrell makes me weak at the knees :) Sounds nice.
