Yesterday morning, Israel’s Supreme Court ordered the recognition of a Canadian same-sex marriage. While the case involved recognition of a foreign marriage, this essentially means the recogntion of same-sex marriage in Israel, because of the curious status of Israeli marriages in general, as Arthur Leonard points out.
