Thirty

Well, that was a fun decade.

I’m 30 years old today.

I’m 30.

Oh my god oh my god oh my god.

My parents called today to wish me a happy birthday. My mom said she was going through my baby book this morning, looking at all these photos of me when I was just a few days old. She said that it might feel strange for me to be 30, but that it feels even stranger to have a 30-year-old son.

Anyway, with all these people telling me that their thirties have been much better than their twenties, I’m feeling less depressed than I’d been lately. I guess I’ll just take all those goals that I’d hoped to achieve by age 30 and try to do them in my thirties instead.

It’s amazing to think how much time is behind me. My twenties are history. They’re done, they’re over, I will never be in my twenties again, ever.

My twenties were pretty turbulent, lots of growing pains and adjusting and exploration and fun. I have no clue what the next decade will bring, but I’m sure it will be just as fun. It’s kind of cool not knowing what lies ahead, really.

I hope that in 10 years I can make a list of the Ten Most Memorable Events of My Thirties and have some really wonderful stuff to write about.

Life continues…

Happy 30th Birthday, me.

  1. It’s true. In spite of my (let’s not call it hellish, let’s call it) eventful year, I remain convinced that the 30s have been and continue to be much better than my 20s. I have felt so much more confident and willing to take more risks, and gladly, most of them have paid off.

Happy birthday! I hope your 30s are great.

  2. Super Happy Birthday!!

I just hit my twenties, which feels super old. I hope I get to have such a fulfilling decade as you did. So far, mine is quite lacklusture.
