The Tin Man

Gay marriage has spread to New Mexico.

I swear, this is all starting to remind me of Eastern Europe in 1989. First it happens in one place, and then it starts to spread. This is so exciting.

(Postscript: er, never mind.)

Well, this reminds me a little of eastern Europe, too — the process there went in fits and starts. The momentum only picked up at the very end — like the joke went, Poland took 10 years, Hungary took 10 months, Czechoslovakia took 10 days, East Germany took 10 hours, and Romania took 10 minutes. =,

You can expect a challenge to the AG’s opinion letter. If state statutory and case law read as gender neutral, you have to wonder how she plans to back up her finding.

What Greg said. It will not be a smooth process. And it does feel vital like 1989. As I walked past City Hall today, there was the line around the block that I’ve gotten used to seeing so quickly. And, there were the Bible-beating protesters with their bullhorns. Everyone was so engaged. Be of good spirits; hey – the King of Cambodia’s on our side!
