  2. I have the opposite problem. At 6 ft, 4, my inseam is 36 inches, and my waist is 32 inches. It’s very difficult to find pants that fit those measurements. Plus I have broad shoulders and long arms. Forget an off the rack suit … they just never fit. Most of the time if I do find jeans of the right length, then they don’t come in my waist size. I recently found some really nice lowrise jeans which were actually the right length and width. I bought all three pairs they had in the store because it just doesn’t happen that often.

  3. At 5’8″, I am just at the tall side of short, according to that article, and being very broad in the shoulders, I can *never* find dress shirts or suit jackets that fit me properly. I usually end up buying a 50 Short suit and tayloring the fuck out of the pants.

  4. I am pretty tall …

And when you’re tall and you buy shirts off the rack, the only ones that fit in the body or the arms presume that you are in the 300-400 pound range. The result is huge, blousy costumery that makes me look like the landlady from Three’s Company in a muu-muu.

    It sucks.

Even when I buy a “tall” size, these are tailored for the giants among us.

  5. Thanks for the link, Tin Man. The listing of “short friendly” stores is great. However, I think it interesting that they didn’t mention stores like Zara’s, which runs on European, not North American, sizes and fits the shorter set better (although then you are slave to the look of any given store). At 5’4”, I find places like Zara’s useful for a nicely fitted–i.e. not needing to be tailored–shirt or even pants. One doesn’t always have to buy North American.
