In my work as an editor, one of the publications I edit is a manual of terms for the oil and gas industry.

Some of the terms being added to this year’s edition are bottom hole severance clause, downhole commingling, squeeze job, and underreaming.

Tee hee hee.

Yes, today I am a twelve-year-old boy.

2 drops of oil

  1. Haha. A long while ago at work, I was perusing our reference shelf and came across some oil/gas terms, and I swear, the page I opened to was talking about nipples. … Oh, looking through my files just now, I realized that I’d photocopied that page (apparently I am/was a twelve-year-old boy too). And I quote, under the term “choke”: “Heavy steel nipples inserted into the production string of pipe, closing off the flow except through an orifice in the nipple.” I could go on. Maybe this is your publication!

  2. In your place, I’d snicker every time I read one of those terms!
